Endowment Funds
Aaron Lasecki Memorial Fund: Established in memory of Aaron Lasecki to support the Sault Ste. Marie football and hockey communities. The Funds will help high school football and hockey athletes with equipment costs.
Bay Mills Brimley Historical Research Society Endowment Fund: Established by the Historical Society to provide funds for the future building and maintenance of a museum in the area and to preserve the local history.
Blue Devils Endowment Fund: Established to enhance the educational and extracurricular opportunities for the students of Sault Ste. Marie Area Public Schools. This fund provides opportunities for students that are not otherwise provided for in the school budget.
Brimley Area Educational Endowment Fund: Established to provide mini-grants to teachers in the Brimley area for special projects and scholarships.
Bruce Bennett Educational Enhancement Endowment Fund: Established by the family and friends of Bruce Bennett. The fund provides for educational opportunities not available through other sources.
Bud Mansfield Fund for Chippewa County: Formerly the Fund for Chippewa County was renamed in 2012 in honor of Bud Mansfield for his instrumental support in the creation of the Chippewa County Community Foundation. Grants are awarded based on the needs of the County.
Chipley/Kiwanis Elementary Assistance Endowment Fund: Established to provide elementary and secondary students in the Sault Area School District with needed school supplies, medical treatment, clothing/boots, etc. Recipients are selected by the school faculty/principal on an as needed basis.
Chippewa County Community Foundation Operating Endowment Fund: Established for future operating expenses of the Chippewa County Community Foundation.
Chippewa County Honors Our Veterans Fund: This endowment fund supports the unmet needs of veterans and their families who reside in Chippewa County.
C.W. Jackson Memorial Endowment Fund: Established by Susan Goodhue of Hawaii in memory of her father, C.W. Jackson. Mr. Jackson spent numerous years vacationing in Sault Ste. Marie and particularly enjoyed Aune Osborn Park.
Cynthia Panik Memorial Fund: This is a donor advised fund established in memory of Cynthia Panik.
David Leask First Responders Endowment: Established by the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club in memory of David Leask. The purpose of the fund is to assist first responders including the City Police Department, Tribal Police, State Police, Federal LEO’s, Sheriff’s Office, Corrections Officers, Fire and Rescue families facing challenges residing within Chippewa County.
DeTour/Drummond Island Educational Endowment Fund: Established to provide mini-grants to teachers in the DeTour/Drummond Island area for special projects and scholarships.
Dougherty K-12 Science Endowment Fund: Established by the Dougherty family to support the Sault Area Public School’s “Natural Science Park” and related K – 12 classroom science activities.
Elks Lodge #552/Donald Christie Youth Endowment Fund: Members of the Elks Lodge #552 have established this fund for youth projects/scholarships as determined by the Elk’s Youth Committee.
EUP Dispute Resolution Center Endowment Fund: Agency fund established to support the administration and the programs of the EUP Dispute Resolution Center.
EUP Fine Arts Council Endowment Fund: Established to provide funds for the fine arts projects in the EUP as recommended by the EUP Fine Arts Council.
Friends of Sarah Waybrant Endowment Fund: Established in memory of Sarah Waybrant by Kristina Beamish and Mr. Piano’s fifth grade class from Lincoln School. Sara was a student at Lincoln school when she died of cancer. The fund will provide assistance to students with special challenges.
Great Lake Environmental Collaborative Endowment Fund: Established with gifts from corporations, individuals, and a grant from the Great Lakes Environmental Collaborative. The fund provides grants for projects to assess, improve, or sustain the environment and/or recreational activities.
Healthy Youth Healthy Seniors Endowment Fund: Established with an allocation of Michigan’s share of the National Tobacco Settlement. This fund is to be used for programs and projects that relate to healthy youth and healthy seniors in our community.
Historic Soo Theatre Project Endowment Fund: Established by the Historic Soo Theatre Project to provide for future funding of the Soo Theatre and its programs.
Hospice of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Endowment Fund: Established to provide funds for the administrative costs, programs, and projects of Hospice of the EUP.
Parker Family Fund: Established to support programs and projects for the benefit of youth in the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
Pennington Family Endowment Fund: Established to be used for the purpose of educational, historical and community related projects in the Easter Upper Peninsula. Priority will be given to the Pickford community. This will include, but is not limited to the support of the Charles A Pennington Memorial Scholarship, grants for the Pickford and Rudyard public schools for educational material and field trips, and support for the Pickford Historical Society, Pickford Library and the Soo Theatre Project or need-based scholarships.
Pickford Community Wellspring Endowment Fund: Established to provide funds for educational, cultural, and recreational programs and activities for the residents of the Pickford community as recommended by the Pickford Community Wellspring Advisory Board.
Pickford Area Historical Society Fund: Established by the Pickford Area Historical Society to provide funds for programs and projects of the historical society.
Project Playground Endowment Fund: Established to provide the maintenance and improvement costs for the playground located in Sault Ste. Marie. The CCCF Board of Trustees grants funds annually (as available) to the City of Sault Ste. Marie, responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the playground.
River of History Museum Endowment Fund: Established to provide future funding for the operation of the River of History Museum.
St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund: Established to provide future funding for the operation of St. Mary’s School.
Sault Cooperative Preschool (SCPS) Endowment Fund: Established to provide future funding for the operation of the Sault Cooperative Preschool.
Sault Area Schools Environmental Sciences Endowment Fund: Established to provide grants to science teachers within the Sault Area School Districts for special projects within their classrooms. The Sault Area Forestry Committee recommends grants from this fund.
Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians Youth Fund: Established by the Sault Tribe to provide funds for programs and projects for the future benefit of the youth members of the Tribe. Grants can be for educational, cultural, charitable, recreational, or sports and related activities. The Sault Tribe Board of Directors recommends grants from this fund.
Shagen Family Endowment Fund: Established by Paul and Emily Shagen to provide annual funding to Lake Superior State University’s Native American Center.
The Panther Legacy Endowment Fund: The primary purpose of the Fund is to provide a permanent endowment fund for enhancements to the Pickford Public School District.
Tracey Lawson MacQuarrie Memorial Swim ScholarshipThe Tracey Lawson MacQuarrie Memorial Scholarship has been set up to support the Sault area swimming community. Funds will be used to support the Sault Competitive Aquatics Team (SCAT) that was so important to Tracey and her son Collin.
United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Endowment Fund: Established to provide future funding for operational and projects of the United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula.
Volunteer Center of the EUP Romney Endowment Fund: Established to provide operating funds for the Volunteer Center of the EUP.
Youth Enrichment Endowment Fund: This fund was established with a grant from the Michigan Community Foundations’ Youth Project (MCFYP), supported by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The Chippewa County Youth Advisory Council (YAC) recommends grants from this fund to support youth-related groups and events in Chippewa County.
War Memorial Hospital Endowment Fund: Established to provide funds for projects and activities of the War Memorial Hospital Foundation.
