YAC 2014 Grants
This year our Youth Advisory Council was able to provide grant funding to SIX fantastic organizations committed to the betterment and growth of our community’s youth!
Chippewa County Department of Human Services was granted $1,012.48 to assist in purchasing needed supplies for the DHS’s Car Seat Safety Project, which is a project to train staff, foster parents, and clients in the safe and correct use of car seats.
CLM Community Action was provided with $500 to assist in increasing the amount of Kindergarten readiness toys and activities in their Head Start classroom.
Malcolm High School was granted $1500 to assist in the renovation of Malcolm High School’s existing hoop house structure, to purchase materials to construct raised beds, and equipment so that a horticulture program can be developed for students.
Soo Theatre Project, Inc. was granted $800 to provide $100-$200 need-based scholarships to students who wish to participate in their STARS summer programs.
Girl Scouts of the Northwestern Great Lakes, Inc. was provided with $500 to help provide all girls, grades K-12 in Chippewa County, an opportunity to become members of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience by reducing financial barriers through the availability of financial assistance for membership, uniform and program activity cost.
United Way of the EUP was granted $150 to assist in purchasing cleaning supplies and lunch for the Malcolm and Sault High students participating in a spring clean up of grounds and inside facility at Hearthside Assisted Living Facility in Sault Ste. Marie.
